Artwork in public space: Holterbergweg, Ouder-Amstel, The Netherlands. Accompanying information:

The Longing

This artwork has been made by the artist duo Berkman and Janssens. The title ‘The Longing’ refers to the different stages of human longing. The ape refers to lust, the emperors crown refers to shame, the dog to loyalty.

More statue groups from this series can be found in the public space of Delft, Bleiswijk and Utrecht. The sculptures are made of plate steel and vary in height from 2.5 to 4 metres.

Investing in this artwork matches the objective of the NS (Dutch Railways) of making the stations it runs and the station areas it develops into attractive surroundings for its visitors.
