Following the English Summer Exhibition does this year the first edition of the ZomerExpo (Summer Expo) take place in the Netherlands. Just like the original, by The Royal Academy of Arts initiated version, which in the course of time has become a true tradition, it’s an exhibition with an open registration. Both professionals and amateurs could contribute work (a maximum of three works per person and on the basis of anonymity) to the themes of portrait, landscape and still life. In four selection days were from 4,750 submissions in a first round 600 works picked, which are now included in the online-gallery, and in a second round were these narrowed down to 250 for the exhibit at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. The exhibition opens July 9 and runs until August 21, 2011.
This first edition of the ZomerExpo also includes one of my own works. It concerns the computer generated photo ‘Amsterdam Central Station (Tactile Paving I)’, in the genre landscape.
