Folkert de Jong – The pleasing delusion – Amabilis insania

Folkert de Jong mainly known for his seductive polystyrene sculptures, his ambiguous images that contrast a content of horrific history and dark depths with a choice of colour of nursery pink and blue and a choice of materials of fragile polystyrene and composite foam. This internationally renowned Dutch artist now has a solo at the Antwerp sculpture park Middelheim Museum where the sculptor has exchanged the polystyrene again for the classic bronze, with this completing the circle, letting him infiltrate further in the history of sculpture, as an image of an image, possibly turning himself in as an accomplice…

Folkert de Jong – The pleasing delusion – Amabilis Insania runs until April 6, 2014.
